"Vidi Aquam" alternates tenor and bass chant with four voice polyphony to create a texture reminiscent of a Renaissance motet. The counterpoint and resulting harmonies, however, are clearly contemporary without ever straying too far from their tonal base.
Vidi Aquam was commissioned by Matthew Glandorf, Music Director at Old Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Philadelphia. It is a setting of the Eastertide sprinkling rite.
