Ave Maria [SSAA] - J.B. Himes (2008) - choir (with or without keyboard) by Joshua B. Himes
"Ave Maria" for SSAA divisi, Unaccompanied
(TTBB & SSATBB versions also available)
"Choral enthusiasts around the world will be sure to enjoy this chilling arrangement of the popular catholic prayer. A true connection between words and music is achieved beautifully through lush, spine-tingling chords that create a wonderful sense of awe and mystery. Highly recommended for experienced choral groups seeking a contemporary and delightful touch to their repertoire."

Breathtaking
Mr. Himes has captured exactly what he set out to capture - holy reverence. And the performance choir should leave any composer/conductor greenly jealous! A brilliant work!
Top notch
Choral music is at the bottom of my list for listening, partly down to my lack of understanding of whats involved, I think. This, however,is absolutely gorgeous. Whilst the majority on this site are left to speculate how are compositions might sound if played live - this is the real deal. It sounds Fantastic! Well deserved number 1 rating. Top notch.
Beautiful...
Ok so I have to admit, I heard it the first time as I found it on here, and immediately downloaded the mp3 onto my partner's laptop. Since then I just had to listen to it again and download it again on her other one.#
I'm a little annoyed that it's exactly the sort of piece which I wish I'd written myself (I get that only once in a while), and I just crave every note and bar! Forget all the other reviews especially about it being new-agey! For me it is a work written 'in the now', and it has such a fluid feel to it, just what I like.
I'vew written an Ave Maria of my own - different style to this, but I'm jealous already.
Keep it up!!
PS - I'll have a root around my contacts try and get this performed by a decent group of singers if that's ok....
