Tootie-Flooties! (1994) - trio (of the same instrument) by Philip R Buttall (PRB Music)
This was written originally for a secondary school recorder group and piano, but has been re-scored for flute ensemble. Flute 1 could be played by just one performer, Flute 2 splits into two parts frequently, and Flute 3 only once, so a minimum of five players is really needed. The jazz notation was soon mastered, once the players had associated the phrases with their more easily-felt rhythms. Flute 2 can be played by treble recorders, and Flute 3 by tenors. Fantastic
This is great. What a fun piece. This has such imagination and style. There is so much rubbish music on here, but this really stands out from the crowd. I really hope I can learn things from pieces such as these, and hope to be able to write something of a similar standard one day!
Well done

The Coolest Sounding Ice Cream of All Time!
Wow, what a score. Really, this score is sweet, yet just cool enough. A very good job and a standing O to Phillip R. Buttall!
Buttall scores!
Another great arrangement...This one for flute ensemble and piano. Easily workable by classically trained musicians who'd like to play a 'jazz-feel' piece. Kind of reminded me of 'The Swinging Shepherd Blues' in that regard.
Good on you, mate!
