Viola Sonata (1997) - solo instrument by Christopher Hossfeld
A very fast-paced piece for solo viola. The tension is heightened by quick alteration between conflicting note patterns. Sarah Darling, to whom the piece is dedicated, has performed the piece in the Kennedy Cender for the Performing Arts, Washington D.C. The length is approximately 12 minutes.

One of the Best
You have very interesting melodic ideas going on with several
dynamic surprises. A very difficult piece. You use all of the instrument taking advantage of the double stops. This is one of the best viola pieces I've seen on this site. Who do you study with at Harvard?
