The Happy Cowboy - solo instrument by Jim Paterson
In the tradition of Western film music, this is a jaunty cowboy who swaggers in the saddle (if that's possible), perhaps slightly tongue-in-cheek as per City Slickers. The slower section towards the end of day is at the conclusion of a hard day's work, more Dances with Wolves in tempo.

Marc Shaiman eat your heart out!
In the great style of Shaiman, this piece is a stereotypical western slice of film music. Very well constructed, the two sections are very neatly and thoroughly composed, with some nice and colourful harmonic touches.
Mr. Paterson's score is very easy on the ears, and portrays exactly what he says it does. I picture a somewhat dulled down Billy Crystal swaggering in his saddle. It is very City Slickers-like, but hey - doesn't all western music sound the same?
All in all, a very nice piano piece. I would like to see an orchestral arrangement of it in the future. And hey, if you're not into that kind of thing, I'd be happy to arrange it for you! One of my passions besdies composing is arranging!
Great Job Jim!
