This was my first attempt to write music synchronised to film, as my entry to the Mario Nascimbene Award 2002. It was very much a learning experience, not least overcoming synchronisation problems to the video material (The Arrest and Trial of Christ from Roberto Rossellini's "Il Messia" originally scored by Nascimbene) and the extreme time pressures. It was very much a learning experience, not least overcoming synchronisation problems to the video material (The Arrest and Trial of Christ from Roberto Rossellini's "Il Messia" originally scored by Nascimbene) and the extreme time pressures. My approach in terms of style was strictly classical and conservative, which seemed most suited to the subject matter. Out of 90+ entries to the competition, this did not make the final 6, but was nevertheless a rewarding and educational experience.
