Stunning! (Mr. Felice does it again...)
Talk about energy... This piece captures you in a melting pot of varying rythms and a storm of orchestral colour. I love how the composer constantly teases the listener by creating tension and releasing it only for short periods of time. And I want to note that I really like your endings! That final cadence is nothing else but a stunning display of your ability to create a stirring piece of music. Great orchestration, too! Sorry for writing in such unconnected sentences. I'm busy listening to some of Mr. Felices other pieces (and being swept away...). I recommend "Max's Parade" and his "Little Star Overture". Try it. They're definitely worth listening (and amongst my favourite songs on this site).

Lots of Variety
Lots of variety with this piece - orchestration and the like. It was as if the piece wanted to break into the “Sabre Dance” on quite a few occasions - a really tour de force! I really enjoyed the “Russian” like sections. Besides the obvious - a good score for film - it would work as a concert piece no problem. Great job!

Interesting.
When I marched in the Rose Parade this past year (2003), I marched with the Pasadena City College Tournament of Roses Honor Band. among the songs we played was Entry of the Gladiators (The carnival song). This song reminded me of that song. Good overall effect, I liked the song. I personally feel there were some areas where the music may have been slapped together as if it were just trying to finish the song, but overall, nice effect.

Well Thought Out and Executed - Stunning Display of Talent
This is by far the best piece of music I have seen from Mr. Felice. A programmatic piece fusing elements of the styles of Williams, Elfman and many others. The piece is well thought out and executed, I thought. There are some very impressive sections and in general you handle the two main themes quite nicely. I really liked the counter-theme in the second section (in the strings) - very nice. In general I have to say that I really liked this piece and would recommend everyone to listen to it and any of this composer's other works. Well done Peter. Well done! Mike

What a mercurial composer!
What a mercurial composer! After listening to well-intentioned scores like his Sym.#1 and Thematic Impressions written between 2001-2 along comes Battle of the Misfits, an absolutely masterful, first class overture. It calls to mind some of the best ballet and circus-like music of Russian composers in the 1930's and 40's like Khatchaturian, Shostakovich, Kabalevsky and Schedrin. The Battle of the Misfits with its virtuostic orchestration and surface brilliance, short idiosyncratic melodies with exciting accompaniment patterns and unexpected harmonic progressions leave this listener astonished as to the sudden maturation and stylistic assuredness of this composer. Astonishing, and baffling!
