Charming.
What a charming little chamber concerto Mr Buttall has written here! There is nothing so sacrosanct about the classics that they may not be used in an imaginative way to provide something for the young pianist to enjoy playing with an orchestra. This is homage, not mimicry. And how engagingly the composer has nested Beethoven's piece between two outer movements entirely in character. Most engaging.
