Concertino for Oboe d'amore (1987) - orchestra by James Mackie
This work is dedicated to the memory of Mary Queen of Scots whose whole life was a tragedy. The oboe performer should try and play this work with panache, as if he were playing a Scottish bag pipe at some highland gathering. Ths first movement uses simple chords then modulates into the second slower section. This slow Adagio movement should be played with great passion and feeling.
