My version of Mozart's Samba..alla Turca! has proved quite popular, in both its original piano duet version, and in a recent Wind Band Arrangement. This present version for Brass Quintet was originally suggested by Robert Hofer (of the Austrian Brass Quintet - see photo), and who made a draft arrangement. I have refined and fleshed this out at a few points, to arrive at what is, hopefully another piece of fun, and which good Brass Outfits could include in their repertoire. I am delighted that Robert has emailed me to say: I like the new alteration in the first trumpet instead of the original line at the end and the coda part. You did a great job there!

And, as I've always said, to those who think this is an afront to the great Austrian master, there's always the untouched original version out there!

And now, in response to an email from Liverpool University graduate, Dan Elson, I have added a few extra parts which might make the arrangement of interest to slightly larger ensembles, or even smaller brass bands. Dan writes: If you do this, I imagine a lot of smaller bands, or small groups from bands, would be interested in using it. Dan has suggested the following adaptations:
Trumpet 1 would also be suitable as Cornet 1
Trumpet 2 would also be suitable as Cornet 2
Trumpet 2 would also provide a First Horn in Eb
Horn in F would also provide a Second Horn in Eb
Horn in F would additionally provide a Baritone/Trombone
Trombone would also provide a Euphonium
Tuba would also provide a Bb & Eb Bass

The original Quintet parts are shown without brackets.
I have made some slight adjustments where dictated by the instrument's range, and made the normal transpositions, using the Treble Clef. I have also added a Drum Part (Guide)

Perhaps in the future I may make a full Brass Band version but, until then, I hope these interim measures might be of some help and interest.

im very impressed! which i could play it though but just by looking at it i know i wouldn't be able to play the first trumpet part! goes quite high in places! This piece goes higher than the highest note you have to get for grade 8! you would have to be a very good player to play this then!

I am very pleased to say that this is definately the most fun piece of music I have found on this site. A very inventive arrangement which any ensemble should enjoy playing, and would certainly add variety to the programme of most brass ensembles.
