Sleepy Body - mixed ensemble by Geminiani arr. Malcolm Tattersall
Geminiani wrote four sets of variations on Scottish airs for violin or flute with harpsichord and cello. I have arranged two of them (Sleepy Body and Lady Ann Bothwell's Lament) for recorder and violin, beginning by transposing the figured bass part upwards and then picking the recorder that best suits the pitch range - alto for Sleepy Body and soprano for the Lament.
Both can be played unaccompanied, on recorder, flute, oboe, etc., and Sleepy Body also suits flute with the violin.
