Sonata for Viola (1999) - solo instrument & piano by Sy Brandon
A three-movement sonata. The opening movement begins with an Adagio that leads into an Allegro with "Hindemith-type" harmony and counterpoint. The middle movement is a lyrical "Adagio". A final "Allegro" in 6/8, 5/4 and 2/4 is a technical "tour de force" bringing a strong climax to the work.
