New Brass 10 Piece
To see all Brass Music, go to www.aluncookmusic.com.
New for 10 Piece Brass Ensemble, Fountains' Flourish, is a bright, light, modestly flashy little number, and is part of a set of concert pieces that I am currently working on.
If you are unfamiliar with the 10 piece Brass format, it is 4 Trumpets, French Horn, 4 Trombones and a Tuba. Sometimes percussion is added. Popularised by the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble, it transformed the image of the brass family throughout the world, also creating a legacy of repertoire for this ensemble. This is an orchestral brass ensemble rather than the British "Brass Band".

The ABC Clarinet Series provides useful material for the young learner. The lastest addition to the series is Stepping Down, a set of 12 concert pieces for clarinet and piano for the elementary player. These low-register pieces only assume knowledge of the left-hand (middle C up to A) and the pieces help to gradually increase the players range downwards through B, Bb, A and G.
The material links in with the ABC Clarinet Tutor with some extended tunes and new material. Also available is A Rocking Week which helps develop good technique for rocking onto the A key.
This site contains compositions and arrangements by Alun Cook, mainly for clarinet, saxophone, brass. Go to www.aluncookmusic.com for a full listing.

Pictures at an Exhibition - Great Gate of Kiev (Wind Band) by Mussorgsky arr. Alun Cook
These arrangements of movements from Mussorgskys Pictures at an Exhibition aim to fill the gaps in what has already been written for Wind Band. Other versions have movements missing or suddenly go into bizarre keys (a semitone difference from the original between two movements that are supposed to segue)! It is pretty difficult for anyone to claim that they havent been influence by the Ravel orchestration, but I have tried to set that aside and work from the original score. ...

O Come, All Ye Faithful (Wind Band with Fanfare) by Trad. arr. Alun Cook
The Fanfare may be played either as an introduction to O Come, All Ye Faithful or as an interlude before the final verse. In the printed score, the Fanfare is written at the start, but the final page of the score contains a standard introduction in case you wish to play the Fanfare before the final verse. The score is slightly condensed for clarity, with some instruments sharing a stave (bassoon 1&2 etc) but the parts are all individual, again for ease of reading. A vocal part is also include...
Clarinet Carillon (Clarinet and Wind Band) by Alun Cook
A showpiece for Clarinet with Wind Band accompaniment. I had intended the solo part to be of about Grade 6 standard but it has turned out to be rather harder, but it is definitely fun to play. The band accompaniment includes plenty of cues for missing instruments, and having a good xylophone player is an advantage. Clarinet Carillon is also available for Clarinet and Piano. The MP3 is just a midi recording but because of the...
Clarinet
Air for the G String (Clarinet Duet) by J.S.Bach arr. Alun Cook
An ideal GCSE performance piece. String players dont run out of breath but clarinettists do, so feel no shame in omitting the second repeat. Only the briefest of guidance for dynamics is given as you can perform it differently every time. Be flexible in tempo and as expressive as possible....

Eine kleine Nachtmusik (Clarinet Quartet) by Mozart arr. Alun Cook
Mozart and the clarinet are such an ideal combination. This famous suite fits beautifully within the range of the clarinet quartet. I have carefully chosen the keys for the movements and tried to retain the character of the original. Mozart always needs excellent musicians to do his music justice but the technical demands of this arrangement are not so high as to prevent students gaining plenty from rehearsing and performing at least sections of the work. The score comes complete with all fou...
ABC Clarinet - A Rocking Week by Alun Cook
ABC Clarinet A Rocking Week
Designed for elementary clarinet students, these 5 short concert pieces help to develop the good rocking action that is essential for fluency onto the \'A\' key. The pieces use the left hand only and should be used as soon as the \'A\' is required. The also provide an introduction to dynamics in an obvious and humorous way.
