I assigned the melody to flute (S/T)and countermelody to clarinet (A/B) This song is a personal affirmation and I have tried to take a simple melody - conveying innocence - and gradually bring it through richer orchestration to ripeness, maturity and the quiet strength of knowledge. This is a traditional French carol from the late 15th century with 13 verses! I first heard it as a young child and have loved the tune ever since. You can play as many verses as you like with this arrangement obviously! I have tried to give it an upbeat modern alternative feel with losing the ancient character.......

Joy to the World was not actually composed by Handel although it may have been inspired by the Messiah. The first complete version appeared in the early 1830's in English tune-books.
