What's New on this Site?

New from Summer 2006 is 'The Dorset Wind Music Woodwind Ensemble Series'. A full description of the series is shown on the first of these arrangements, Prelude from 'Te Deum' by Charpentier which is free. The series is designed for flexible ensembles.

March from 'The Nutcracker' arr for Clarinet Ensemble by Tchaikowsky arr. Rodney Parker

As with all marches, interpretation of tempo (or lack of it!) creates the atmosphere. I've set this at 120 in order to achieve precision playing at the outset, particularly with triplets and semiquavers (16ths). The pulse could be gradually increased towards 132 or 138 as the piece becomes more familiar. Depending on this score's popularity, other movements of the suite may follow. Great fun for the bass end of the ensemble!...

Rodney writes for Clarinet & Saxophone and lives in the heart of the South West of England near Sherborne in Dorset. Apart from his many compositions and arrangements for Clarinet & Saxophone with SibeliusMusic, he also has Wind Orchestra pieces published by Faber Music, Alfred Lengnick and Molenaar Edition of Holland. He is a Fellow of Trinity College, London and an Associate of The Royal College of Music.He is also the Conductor and Musical Director of The Sturminster Newton Orchestra Workshop in North Dorset.
